REJUVENATION

This poem was written in December, 1991.
It is dedicated to my daughters.

Returning from a hectic day at work
When I see your toothless cherubic smile,
Light up your endearing face,
When I hear you gurgle
Your tiny tongue darting in and out
I stare at you mesmerised.
And then you clutch at my fingers
While I hold you close
To kiss your chubby cheeks
And all of a sudden
My tiredness and fatigue disappear
Like the morning mist
Dispelled by the rising SUN
And I am rejuvenated.

  2. Only a parent can understand what it means. To get back from the world - battered and weary. And to watch the darkness lift. With one smile, a gurgle, a naughty twinkle of the eye.
